«Switzerland Travel Centre meets Ticino»: Cooperation with Ticino intensifies

Switzerland Travel Centre (STC), the largest tour operator for holidays in Switzerland, intensified its relationship with Ticino at the «Switzerland Travel Centre meets Ticino» event in Cadenazzo on 1 February. The event welcomed around 80 participants and provided an inspiring platform for an active exchange of ideas between Switzerland Travel Centre, Ticino destinations and hotel partners.

As of last year, Contracting Managers, Sara Paganetti and Oliver Galijas, both natives of Ticino, have been looking after the interests of Switzerland's sunniest region for Switzerland Travel Centre. Closer cooperation with hotels and destinations resulted in a 12% increase in overnight stays booked by Switzerland Travel Centre in Ticino in the 2023 financial year.

The event provided an opportunity to better understand new prospects for cooperation with Switzerland Travel Centre. A particular focus was on the presentation of the «Ticino Promo», a collaboration between Ticino Turismo, RailAway and Switzerland Travel Centre. José Lamorte, member of the Switzerland Travel Centre Management Board, commented: «With this attractive promotion, Ticino guests benefit from a 20% discount on the daily rates of selected hotels and a free return journey on Swiss public transport.»

With around 80 participants from hotels, Ticino Turismo, RailAway and the destinations of Ascona-Locarno, Lugano, Mendrisiotto and Bellinzona, the Ticino tourism industry was well represented. Sonja Frey, President of HotellerieSuisse Ticino, commented: «As hoteliers and tourism professionals, we strive for more visibility, sustainability and early bookings. Switzerland Travel Centre offers us all these aspects at both national and international level.»

The event concluded with an awards ceremony. The most booked hotels in Ticino were recognized by Switzerland Travel Centre for their outstanding performance in in the last year. The Hotel Zurigo Downtown in Lugano received the award for the most overnight stays, while the Hotel De La Paix Lugano was honoured in the category of the highest turnover. The H4 Hotel Arcadia Locarno was awarded for the most bookings as part of the Ticino Promo.
