Good to know

By car or motorcycle

The classic route of the Grand Tour of Switzerland leads on roads and is aligned according to Auto and motorcycle. Larger vehicles should expect limitations in mountain areas.

For using the Swiss motorways you need a motorway vignette. Order one easily on our website: Order vignette

Important: The recommended time for the Grand Tour of Switzerland is between April and October, as long as the Alpine passes are open. Please inform yourself about the road conditions under www.alpen-paesse.ch before you leave. The closing of the Alpine passes during winter can imply huge changes in the planned itinerary. However, alternatives such as tunnels or car-train services are available

Signalling and driving direction

The Grand Tour of Switzerland can be travelled in both directions. The recommended route guidance is clockwise. In the course of 2016, the Grand Tour will be signalled with official signs. This is limited by clockwise use on the main route and the access routes from abroad.
